Women’s empowerment

"The Joy Project restored our self esteem as women. Now I'm an independent woman who is able to take care of the other family needs"

Our empowerment programs have offered education on women’s basic human rights, micro-enterprise and business literacy and social workshops on GBV and victim support.

Our micro-enterprise program, Kutimela, uses economic empowerment as a driving force for social change - and has helped to develop group savings programs which has seen more than E800,000 in combined savings!

We continually thrive to empower the women we work with through focused programs. We hope to:

  • Provide Advocacy training - empowering rural based women through legal rights education and assistance services
  • Train 26 Peer Educators to be community legal-aid and court watch agents
  • Sensitise judicial and non-judicial actors, prosecutors, police officers, clerks, registrars
  • Establish a formal rural community bank in partnership with a formal banking institution
